Thank you for this. I just want to add that the Northern Virginia Otherkin Meetup is far from the only event coming up in our community. Between now and the end of September there are twenty otherkin, therian, or vampire events taking place around the world. Actually, somewhat more than that as some are meeting in both August and September and only the August dates are up right now. And those are just the events that are public, and that I know about. A list of all these events, as accurate and complete as I have been able to make it, can be found here:

If anyone knows of other events which are not yet listed, please let me know.

Thank you. :) And I think you've been doing a fine job announcing them so far. What I've been doing on AnOtherWiki is every few days I check the list, and update any meetups which have passed with their next meetup date if it's been announced. I also check any of the TBD gathers to see what their current status is and if they have announced a new date yet. Then I check the usual suspects list (meetup.com, werelist, werebeastcommunity, howlnet, otherkin.net) for new gathers. Then I try to do a search to find any gather resources which don't fall under the usual suspects. For instance, there seems to be a growing group of otherkin, therians, and vampires trying to create meetup groups using groupspaces (http://groupspaces.com/search#!?s=otherkin&l=&page=1). So far, none have had an actual meeting and I rather doubt it's going to take off due to groupspaces pricing plan for creating groups, but I'm monitoring it to see if any of them prove me wrong. I'm also trying to find any other websites which are now hosting, or may potentially host, meetup-like groups that otherkin, therians, or vampires may use to organize such events. I don't know if that's the model you want to adopt, or if another system would work better for your purposes.

Oh, I should also mention that it's been my policy not to include fur meets which casually mention they take otherkin/therians too, nor to include events which seemed geared more towards goths or vampire lifestylers than real vampires (sangs and psis). I'm currently reviewing my position with regard to the latter policy and discussing it with some members of the vampire community as there are some major events that fall into this category like Endless Night, Dracula's Ball, etc, but I think it will probably stay. You may not want to adhere to these policies, or you may, that's your call.
